I have to say, Gundam Breaker's core conceit is pretty awesome, and just goes to show how much of a cultural institution Gundam is that its own owners don't bat an eye at acknowledging the fact that most of its hyper self-serious lore is generally intended to sell loads of model kits. Hell, Gundam Breaker burns down the fourth wall and makes a game about the model kits, rather than the fictional machines they model, and in the process ended up with a more interesting game for it.
Based on the lengthy new trailer above, Gundam Breaker's basically like Monster Hunter, except instead of hunting huge monsters, you and four friends take down gigantic Gundams, mobile armors, and other models, in environments ranging from crafting desks to craps tables. And instead of skinning monsters to make better equipment, you're swapping parts to make awesome "kitbash" connections, like having Gundams with Zaku parts and the like. I find that hilarious somehow.
The game's out on PS3 on June 27th, and on PS Vita later, and a demo is on the store now. Preorders (in Japan) gain some parts off Gundam SEED's Freedom Gundam, as well as some goodies for Gundam Battle Operation, Namco Bandai's free-to-play Gundam-themed Battlefield-alike
