Lots of big news for Atlus fans this week, it seems. Atlus USA has just confirmed a summer release window for the English version of Dragon's Crown, which is due in Japan on July 25th. Some disappointment may come though for more frugal fans, as the PS3/PS Vita game will not be part of Sony's "Cross-Buy" program, which gives buyers of certain PlayStation 3 games access to the PS Vita versions for free (and vice-versa). PlayStation Allstars Battle Royale and Dead or Alive 5 Plus are notable examples of participating titles. Sadly, Dragon's Crown will also not support Cross-Play, which allows players to play with each other across platforms. That's a bummer for dedicated co-op fans, particularly ones who plan to get the Vita version, since it may shrink the potential player pool for online matchmaking. For what it's worth, the game will have cross-platform save syncing, so folks who get one version or another won't need to start all over if they switch formats.
In other Atlus-fan-pleasing news, the Japanese Twitter account for Etrian Odyssey IV teased new developments for the series in this week's Famitsu (which itself contains the latest update on Devil Survivor 2: Break Code). Director Shigeo Komori noted that what they're planning has a number of "new experiments" to be excited about. I wonder what those experiments might be.
What do you think? Bummed out by Dragon's Crown's compromises? What kinds of experimental changes would you want to see made to a future Etrian Odyssey game?
