Totally meant to have this up yesterday. Then I got distracted by Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. It's my first time playing it, and I decided to just say “screw it, let's do this on Critical Mode!”. I keep beating the bosses no problem and dying against the normal Unversed, which seems kinda messed up to me but WHATEVER. I love that franchise.
Moving on. I'm still toying with the format of character posts a little, so we'll see how I like this layout. The Character: Cho Hakkai

I haven't watched much of the Saiyuki anime, but what I have watched was viewed in English. I mostly read the hell out of the manga.
Spoilers to come, but nothing major.
Cho is one of the main characters in the Saiyuki series, accompanied by Sanzo, Gojyo and Goku. For anyone who hasn't seen the series, they're all journeying west together trying to find out why all of the youkai have started going insane and like, eating people. Because that's sort of a problem. Hakkai himself is a demon as well (in fact everyone but Sanzo is a demon) but he wears a power limiter which stops him from going crazy. Also he has a tiny dragon named Hakuryu for a pet and the dragon can also become a jeep for some reason.
He's a very gentle, kind person. His past is one of the most depressing things in the universe. Basically, he was in a romantic relationship with his sister (yes, THAT was creepy, I don't deny it, but I've also read Angel Sanctuary and they actually showed him having sex with his sister in that series so Cho's incest is a lot less squicky in its portrayal) and then some demons kidnapped her. They killed her. He lost it and slaughtered all of them. Apparently, if you kill 1000 demons all on your own, you become a demon yourself.
Oh, he also tore out one of his own eyes for some reason I don't remember, which tells me I need to start re-reading immediately. (Not really, I don't have enough time on my hands.) It looked awesome though.
After the whole dead-sister-demon-slaughtering business, he ended up being found by Gojyo, who brought him into his house and let him stay there. They ended up becoming really good friends. To the yaoi fangirl in me that translates to...well, more than friends. That's just me though. And at least a small percentage of the fanfiction community. Best moment: There's a scene SOMEWHERE in the manga where he ends up with his power limiter removed. For some reason he looks sort of like he's related to plants when that happens. He's also thoroughly badass though, the whole family resemblance to the rose bush is all right.
Worst moment: When...I can't think of much, but probably in the movie when he was basically being choked to death. That kinda sucked. He got out of it of course, somehow, but still.
Awesomeness: 9/10 awesomes. He's one of my favorite characters ever, but he loses an awesome for being with his sister in the past.
