This slipped under Japanator's easily-distracted radar array last week - why, oh why did we hire cats to man the monitoring stations? - but it's pleasant to know either way: NIS America has, after a long enough delay that pretty much everyone had written it off, finally announced a western release date for their localization of Black Rock Shooter: The Game, the Imageepoch-developed PSP RPG that hit Japanese shelves way back in 2011.
That date is in just under two weeks, on April 23rd in the US, and April 24th in Europe. Quite soon! Unfortunately for Figma fans and lovers of physical product, the game is limited to a downloadable PlayStation Network-only release. It also seems that some of the licensing issues that contributed to the lengthy delay continue to dog the game, as it will not be available in Canada, Mexico, and certain European countries. Fans in those countries looking forward to the game should expect to boot up their alternative PSN accounts.
Are you interested in the game? While I for one haven't heard of the game setting the RPG-playing world on fire or anything, I'm happy that it made it across the pond at all. It's almost funny to think that this game will be the first exposure of the Black Rock Shooter brand that many potential western fans will see. It just goes to show how scattered the origins of that character really are. Check below the jump for a second gameplay trailer.
