D is for...Spring Anime!

What do you mean that doesn't make any sense? Well, I lied. I want to talk about the spring stuff that I've watched so far, instead of clumping it all into one giant post. I presently feel that spring is a time for light, nice and easily-read posts. So without further ado...

1) Space Brothers

I have no idea what to make of this series. It's like...these two brothers both wanted to become astronauts, only one of them really did. But they were both successful, at least until the older one got fired from his job after headbutting a superior. WHO DOES THAT? So he spends the first episode job-hunting and having flashbacks, which is exactly how I spend every day of my life, and then suddenly at the end, thanks to his family conspiring to help him, he ends up accepted to this astronaut training thing.

It might be good, it might not be. I require the watching of episode two at least to decide.

2) Folktales From Japan

First of all, I LOVE folklore. All of it. Getting snippets of all kinds of folklore is part of what makes me love all the variety in Persona so much. (The games. The anime adaptation of P4 really didn't include the folklore.) So I was pretty intrigued by the idea of a series all about Japanese folktales. The first episode didn't let me down. I really enjoyed it.

Erm, except for the actual first folktale. I mean come on, the neighbors kill your dog...and then they ask to borrow something else from you...and you LET THEM? No. If my neighbors kill my dog and then ask to borrow more stuff, the only thing I'll be loaning them is a tiny plot of land in my backyard. The one where I will be BURYING THEIR CORPSE.

3) Kore wa Zombie desu ka - Of the Dead

I don't hesitate to admit that I loved the first season of Kore wa Zombie desu ka, mostly because I think Eucliwood is one of the best characters ever. So obviously I was excited when a second season was announced. I especially thought it could maybe, you know, make up for the monstrosity that called itself the last episode of season one. So I came into this going "Yay, more Zombie!". I came out of it saying the exact same thing.

My only thing was that most of the people in the school need to sort out their priorities a bit better. There's a GIANT SQUID MONSTER destroying your school...and you're all more worried about your classmate crossdressing? Really guys? REALLY? Giant. Squid. Monster. PRIORITIES.

4) Polar Bear Cafe

Okay, as soon as I saw a promo picture for this series I knew I had to watch it. So I started up episode one and there was a panda being told to go look for a part time job. I'll be honest: I love it when an entire series is just a giant bundle of crack. And that's this series in a nutshell. It's crack. So much crack. I knew within like five minutes I was going to keep watching for the entire series.

Then the sloth appeared on the screen. That's when I knew...not only would I watch this entire series, but it would be my favorite of the season. Because I freaking love sloths. I've seriously checked the exotic animal laws of Oregon, where I plan to live again after college, to make sure I can own one. And I totally can.

So far I haven't seen anything this spring I don't like...but so far I also haven't watched Medaka Box, which I'm a little worried about. Erm. A lot worried about. I guess we'll see though.
