It looks like the final week of April is going to involve some new changes for Toonami, because IGPX (Short for Immortal Grand Prix) is racing back to the lineup after escaping from the limbo that resulted from Bandai Entertainment going down. But hey, they pushed tooth and nail to bring IGPX back, which is an impressive feat on its own accord.
At the moment, I'm not sure how I feel about this, since I didn't get to catch that many episodes of the IGPX when it aired on Toonami back in 2005. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the idea behind the series focusing on a race where teams of three use giant robots to fight against other teams, as they race on the track. The other neat thing about IGPX was that it was an original Toonami animated series where Cartoon Network collaborated with Production IG.
Toonami's original series will return on April 27th, which will mark the debut of the new upgrades for Tom and the Absolution. Depending on how my mood is on that day, I might tune in to see how IGPX holds out in this day and age. Taking the nature of the new Toonami into account, there might be a chance that they will show the uncut version of the series.
In order to spark up some nostalgia among people, I have left the original Toonami promo for IGPX in the race track after the jump. So to those that got to watch all of IGPX, is the series worth checking out?
