Lots of folks really love Final Fantasy X. I'd wager that it's right up there alongside Final Fantasy IV, VI, and XII in the top five best-regarded installments in Square Enix's mega-series (which would the fifth be?). Being a lot of "firsts" probably helps its legacy, as well. X was the first Final Fantasy on the PlayStation 2, the first with significant voice-acting, and the first to get a direct sequel in Final Fantasy X-2.
Now you can add "first Final Fantasy to get a true HD remaster" to X's list of pioneering achievements, because that's what's happening, and we've got trailer-ized (and partially German-ized) proof for you right up there. Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster are things that will happen, on both the PS Vita and PS3.
Rumors suggest that the two games will be available together on the PS3, but their Vita versions will be sold separately, not unlike the situation with Konami's recent Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. I find that kind of a bummer, seeing as these days one of the best platforms for the type of JRPG as conventional as Final Fantasy X is the sort you can take with you everywhere.
Ah well, we can always hope that they'll be cheaper on the Vita, right?
