In case you haven't noticed, I was actually being sarcastic about my reaction to Sentai's two new licenses. In their never ending battle to license everything, they are using their preemptive licensing strike to grab Majestic Prince before it has the chance to air more than one episode. And out of the blue, their craving for baked goods has lead them to license the Shining Hearts anime.
Between the two titles picked up, I'm going to say that Majestic Prince is the better choice in the roster. While the show's premise of genetically enhanced humans piloting giant robots resembles Gundam SEED and Fafner, the comedic elements between the pilots sounds like a better way to pull viewers in. That said, Majestic Prince sounds more promising than Shining Hearts, since I have heard that Hearts doesn't due justice to the Shining video games.
Not to sound like a broken record, but I could be wrong about my assumption. On a positive note, the character designs are based off of Tony Taka's style, and the baking premise in a fantasy world setting could be an interesting take on the Shining series.
Continuing on with Senai's plans, Majestic Prince will get a digital release, and Sentai plans to announce their plans for the home release in the future. Whereas Shining Hearts is getting a dual audio release on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital. And one more thing: if you are interested in learning more about Majestic Prince, check out part one of Japanator's Spring Season 2013 Anime Preview Guide by Warmonger Josh.
