This last weekend I attended Shutocon, a small con in Lansing, Michigan. Since it's such a tiny con, and since I wasn't running any panels, I decided to go ahead and volunteer for once in my life. As a result I spent 90% of my weekend badge-checking, 9% wandering the dealer's room and talking to some friends I hadn't seen in awhile, and 1% eating delicious cherry pie for lunch.
The highlights?
1. Pixie Stix. There was candy for the volunteers, so I had like five Pixie Stix over the weekend and they were yummy. Not as good as the cherry pie, but still.
2. Mami figures. I already had one that I got at Ohayocon in January, but I've made it my goal to purchase like, every Mami thing that exists, so this weekend I end up buying another two figures. One of them I don't like very much--she's tiny and crappy, BUT she was only $8 so I went ahead and got her. And yes she is levitating over her platform at the time of this picture.
The other one, on the other hand, is AWESOME. She was totally worth the $40.
3. Todd Haberkorn. I didn't get to go to any of his events thanks to the whole volunteering thing, but I did happen to see him as he was going down the hall so I grabbed him (not LITERALLY) and asked if he'd be willing to do an interview for CC&C since I had to push back the release date anyway...he said he'd love to. So I have to shoot him an email in a little bit to set that up. He's one of my favorite VAs...actually probably my #1 favorite in the English market, so I'm really, really excited.
Also, I went to see The Lorax when I got home from the con yesterday and now this blasted song is stuck in my head:
So yup, that's me right now. How are you guys?
