After some confusion on an actual release schedule, Studio Ghibli's highly anticipated Kaze Taichu has gotten a solid date. The Hayao Miyazaki written and directed film was originally supposed to hit theaters alongside Kaguya Hime no Monogatari, however they decided to go back and make some changes to Kaguya Hime no Monogatari, hopefully all for the better. Luckily, the movie I'm most excited about, Kaze Taichu, will still make summer movie rush, coming to Japanese theaters on July 20th.
The details of both of the features have actually been quite sparse, with only posters to guide our expectations. You can be sure that details will start to trickle out as we get closer to launch date, but I for one, am dying with anticipation! I'm really hoping for something in the vein of Porcorosso or Kiki's Deliver Service. While I do enjoy the recent Ghibli productions, nothing's felt quite as "complete" as his early works. Or, I'm just getting old.
