A Daily Dose of Music: Old School Thursdays

Today we take a trip all the way back to 1983, and visit Tatsunoko's often overlooked series, Genesis Climber Mospeada. Most remember the series in its reworked and translated Harmony Gold version, Robotech: The New Generation. The story was chopped and moved quite a bit to work alongside the other two Robotech victims, Macross and Southern Cross.

As much as people may complain, the whole thing actually worked pretty well, as I'm not a hater of the Macek-verse. Quite a few things about Mospeada were lost in the shuffle, namely some badass music. Probably the most interesting character of the story was sure the cross dressing, Yellow Belmont.

Yellow was a military dude, hiding out as women to escape the war, all while belting out some amazing tunes. Today's clip comes from the musical OVA, Mospeada: Love, Live, Alive. The track, Dream Road was sung by Mine Matsuki, and written by Joe Hisashi. Yellow was featured as singing in both a female and male voice, which was pretty wild for its time, all while kicking lots of butt while piloting a blade wielding Blowsuperior. The 80s sure were cool.
